Maya shrugged slightly, "Not really," She told him, "You?"

"I think I'll visit my family for the holiday," Michael said. "I haven't seen them in quite a while."

"That sounds nice," Maya said with a small nod, smiling.

Michael nodded. "However, there's a catch. For me. I wanted to ask you about it." He studied her feet for a moment, then continued. "They're probably going to ask me about my life here. That means I'll probably tell them about you."

"Ok," Maya said slowly with a nod, "If your trying to ask if you can tell your family about me, then that's fine. You don't have to ask." She told him and then reached over to flick a piece of hair out of his eyes.

"Okay," Michael said, turning his head to give her fingers a quick kiss while her hand was still at his face. "Thank you." That was one problem less, and he could envision quite a few of them arising when he would get back home for the holidays.

Maya smiled, feeling a small tingling feeling go up her spine as he kissed her fingers, "No problem." She said softly.

The question had seemed a significant one, and Michael felt some relief at her response, as well as at what he sensed of her emotions. The gesture he had made was a necessary one - another small step ahead, not too demanding for him, but still he had to manage it for a moment. Still holding Maya by the hand, he kept walking, in silence for the moment.

Maya enjoyed the silence. It wasn't uncomfortable or awkward, it was nice. Looking ahead she saw the park and smiled a little at a memory from her childhood.

Catching a change in her emotions, a good change, though, Michael glanced at her with curiosity. "I sensed a change in your emotions," he said, speaking his thoughts aloud, as usual. "A good memory?"

Maya nodded softly, "A very good memory." She said with a small smile, "I was five and my mom and I were having a picnic. Gosh, I don't know how remember that..." She said with a small laugh.

"I hope there was grass there," Michael said, wondering what chain of associations lead her to that memory as they were walking down a snowy path in the park.

"Was it fall?" Michael asked.

Maya nodded, "Yeah, there wasn't much grass because the park was by the beach. There were tree's though...But, only a few."
