He was a bit heavier than expected and Shade forced herself not to make a sound when he rested quite some of his weight on her. Not for the first time she wondered how long he had been in there and that made her anger flare up once more. It wasn´t right they just set off, she thought. She would not let them get away that easily. She had proof and even though she had no idea yet what to do with it, she was determined to come up with something like a plan once she got that guy and getting away from here taken care of.
They started to make their way down the stairs and it went more slowly than Shade would have wished for. Also, since she more had to drag and half carry the guy, they were louder than she could bear. Her heart was starting to pound harder again, her anger and confusion getting veiled by fear, her ears nervously alert to the corridor above.

After Steven had just stood in the middle of the room for some seconds to realize that the young man was really gone, he turned around and run to the door. The reality had clicked back in and he was not the person to give up that quick. "Come on! He cannot be that far away! Probably, we can catch him. He could not use the stairs!" he nearly shouted to Harry as he was already running out of the door and down the corridor to the stairway.

They were almost half down the stairs when Shade heard the voice of one of the men behind them. Her breath nearly hitching in her throat, she tightened her grip around the young man´s waist, dragging him with her and almost making both of them tumble down the steps. He was getting closer, she could tell it and her mind tricked her into believing he was moving towards the faster than he actually did.

::When they nearly tumbled, Manuel tried to grab at the railing with his free hand, for what little that could accomplish. He, too, heard his captor above them, and wished for another adrenaline rush. None was to come it seemed; he dearly needed to rest.::

Shade instinctivelyfastened her grip around the young man when she felt he was trying to steady himself. Another hectical glance across her shoulder did not help to calm her much because even though their follower was nowhere in sight yet, he couldn´t be far - and on top of all this, their footfall on the carpeted steps sounded like a stampede in her ears.

Steven had run down the few steps as he heard something beneath him. He was not sure, if it just was the roaring blood in his own ears, but it sounded like somebody was stumbling. 'I will get you!' he thought furious and speeded up. He was nearly flying down the steps and did not care to fall them down. His own thought were to reach the entrance as fast as he could. If the young man would be still somewhere in these hotel, he would catch him and then the mutant would wish never had to escape.

Mobilising all her efforts, Shade sped down the remaining couple of steps - or at least, sped as much as Manuel would allow. She had him grabbed with both arms now and she instinctively held her breath, praying that the hastened footfall of the man would dull out their own taps.
They reached the last step and Shade used all her strength to push the young mutant further. Just one more step and they could turn sharp to the left and be out of reach only if just for the moment. If that guy ran into them things were as good as lost. She inwardly cursed herself. Why hadn´t she just kept hidden somewher on the upper floorand let the guy rest? Her reason to not do that seemed irrelevant now.

::With the footsteps behind them, Manuel felt his heart flutter. He was angry, that anger rising with each passing second, but no burst of energy accompanied those emotions; he was simply worn out. Not, however, too worn out to care about his escape, but unable to do much to aid it. He almost stumbled a second time, but steadied himself. He was leaning far too much on the young woman, but at this point, it was beyond his control.::

He was nearly putting all of his weight on her now and Shade clenched her teeth. Before she stepped down the stairs she spun round and pushed him ahead of her, seeing that their follower was already so close that he would most likely bump into the young mutant any moment if he wasn´t out of the way. The push she gave Manuel was a rather harsh one but the only possibility to get him out of harm´s way before she half leaped down the stair and around the corner, one foot still on the stairs as she turned the corner, shoving the stranger ahead of her.

Steven was always taking a few steps to run down as fast as he could. His breathe was fast and within a second, he reached the end of the stairs. To get the mutant was the only thought in his head as he started to turn around to go down the next stairs. Suddenly, his foot bumped against something and he stumbled one step forward. With another quick step, he tried to get back his balance but his own speed was way too fast. Hardly, he sprawled and hit the floor. The gun went out of his pocket and slit over the carpet without making any noise. His own fall was so loud, that Steven did not realise the lose of his gun. Beside that, he hurt his ribs badly as he hit the floor. For some seconds, he just laid on the floor and breathed hard. The blood was running in his ears and his heart was pounding against his ribs. With a groan, he rolled on his back and placed a hand on his bruised ribs. "F**k!" he mumbled through his teeth and closed his eyes for a second. Steven needed to get up quickly, before to much time would run away. He needed just one second to check his body, that he did not get more hurt as his ribs. Every breathe he took was hurting him at the moment.

Shade whirled around, just in time managing to push the two of them out of the way. Her heart was hammering and even though they were both invisible, she had the feeling that they were dangerously exposed. The foot. He had stumbled over her foot! Her eyes darted towards the stairs that looked just as run down as everything here with its carpeted steps that were not smooth any more but had bumps and dents here and there. Please, she thought, please let him believe it was something about the stares.
Holding her breath, still grasping the hand of the stranger, she watched the man sit up again, noticed belatedly the weapon that had fallen from his belt or from whereever. She didn´t know how to properly use a gun, nor did she intend to use it, but the prospect of that guy keeping it was not the best. Therefore, while the killer was still on the ground, distracted with tending to his bruised knee, she leaned over to the young man "Hold on to something." she whispered, close to his ear so no one else would hear. "hold my foot or touch my foot or something." To extent her powers to him she didn´t need anything more but physical contact, no matter where, not necessarily by holding hands. She then slowly got to her knees and reached forward, trying to reach the gun with her fingertips.

::Between the pushing, the stumbling, and the chase, Manuel was ready to collapse. Nothing was more enticing than the thought of laying down at the moment, but his life depended on more than that. He had to keep conscious, and that meant he had to listen to this woman. He disagreed with her plans - in that, he didn't believe she had one. But her powers were the only thing which had let them escape. Heeding her words, with his free hand, he reached out to take her leg, in doing so coming to his knees. He let her hand slip from his as soon as he had a grip on her calf.::

Feeling that the other one grabbed her leg, Shade slowly moved forward on all fours, never too far to not make them lose contact, but that wasn´t necessary either. The man was not too far away and the gun had skidded off into her direction, but that still made him be incredibly close. She had the feeling that her knees and hands made the loudest sounds on the carpet and she didn´t trust her breath to be low enough to not be heard either, therefore, before her nervous hand reached for the gun which was out of the sight of the killer for now luckily, she reached deep into her powers, only hear fear of the last few minutes even allowing her to activate her stealth once more.
She nearly groaned when nausea hit her and for a moment she had to force herself to stay focussed. She had briefly used her stealth on the upper floor and had been extending her invisibilty to a second person for some two or three minutes now - something that would be fine usually, but with her stealth as an addition even the high scale of adrenaline was starting to not be enough. She started to feel dizzy immidiately and almost hectically grabbed for the gun, making if vanish. Her fingers were shaking slightly when they closed around the cool metal and she pulled her hand back. Then she retreated, her head spinning and more or less slumped down next to the other mutant, letting her stealth slip, but knowing she would have to rest for a moment. Not that she had much of an option to to otherwise anyways. The other man was still a danger. She couldn´t move away from here before he left, because she doubted her companion had enough strength left in him to be able to walk completely soundlessly and her stealth was out of reach for now, she just knew.

After another second, Steven opened his eyes and rolled over with a groan. Then he set up as quick as it was possible for him. Looking down to the carpet with dents everywhere on it. One of them had stopped his run back down, which made him angry. He was loosing time, while he was sitting here and getting angry about this. His hand was holding his ribs as he got back on his feet with another groan. Probably, there were still a chance to catch the young mutant. He stumbled forward a few steps and turned around the corner to go down the next stair. After he had taken some of them, he speeded up again. Only so much that Steven could bear the pain on his ribs.

::Manuel wanted to ask if she had any experience with a gun, but he had no desire to make additional noise, not with the situation at hand. He clutched her leg with as tight a grip as he could manage, though it was weak as he rapidly lost energy.::
