"An' so, did it help?" Gambit asked nonchalantly, knowing there was probably not a single chance that a statement like this could be true on Shade's part.

Shade slowly shook her way in the manner of someone who is near desperate. It was something she would joke about now and then, partly also to unsuccessfully tease his point on the matter, but it was nothing she would seriously consider. "No." she said. "not at all."

"Aw, too bad," Gambit made a heavy sigh. "Looks like ya gonna stay 'ere tonight an' I'll see if I can do somethin' about your predicament." He had no apartment now so he was back to his half-nomadic ways of moving between the Club and random hotels.

Shade couldn´t help but chuckle at that. She had not shifted her position in the last minutes, was still sitting turned towards Gambit in a way that had her one leg touch his, nothing to be spotted by someone passing by, but a gesture of comfortable closeness that she knew was okay even knowing and respecting that the Hellfire was the place where he preferred not to make their relationship a display for others. "Oh, I hope so." she said, half trying to keep up the face of someone who is hoping to be cured from some nasty illness. "that and I got this raincheck for a hug. Didn´t look like the best thing to do last time."

Gambit reached out with his healthy arm, pulling Shade onto his lap, and wrapped both arms around her. "The amount of rainchecks I got won't fit anywhere now, so I might as well get t' fulfilling some of 'em."

Shade hadn´t really expected an open display of affection while they were still sitting in the club, but reacted to it instantly by returning the hug. For a few moments, she said and did nothing but have her chin propped on Gambit´s shoulder and her eyes closed. Strange, she thought, how it was only now that the last bits of tension that had been built up weeks ago were now dropping from her. She hadn´t known that until now, but now she could clearly feel it, like some faint knot inside her coming lose. And that felt good. Far better than beating up a punching bag.

Gambit normally felt safe in his Club, as it was the place he controlled very well and could trust it, but since the last incident that had gotten him almost at home he still reacted warily to everything around him, and so wouldn't go further than this hug while he and Shade were still in public. He stroked her back with his thumb slowly, keeping to this simple way of expressing his usual need for physical connection.

Simple as the gesture was, Shade felt it had been just what she had needed since she had entered the Club, or rather, ever since she had closed that door behind her over at his friend´s place leaving with the uneasy feeling of unresolved tension. Breathing calmly and just enjoying the moment, she pulled back after a few moments to look at him. "Now I feel good." she said with a smile, her words hinting at the fact that her mood had improved but since she had not mentioned anything of it earlier, her words also conveyed it was something she had just discovered herself.

"Dat's a temporary relief," Gambit said, feigning seriousness. "Ya still stayin' here tonight for complete treatment so don' take this lightly, chere."

Shade´s smile spread into a full fledged grin, her complete demeanour now seemingly a little brighter than it had been before. Funny how little things could make such a difference. "I promise I´ll take it very seriously." she said then, unsuccessful in keeping a straight face.

"Good," Gambit nodded. He knew she probably had some question about him, too, even if she didn't show it. Before she started asking questions the answers to which he would prefer to keep to himself, he said, "About your car..."

Shade had been about to ask him if he had found a new place yet or if he even intended to, but he was faster in changing the topic from their little fooling around so she reckoned he either wanted to distract from that or she could still ask that later.
She raised an eyebrow at the mention of the Corvette, expecting him to say more. She had not been back to the apartment building to see for herself and therefore had no idea about the degree of damage.

"It survived, more or less," Gambit continued, "so I sent it to a repair shop. It might not look the same... different leather an' such... but it'll be back in order."

After what Gambit had hinted at that morning, Shade had already written off the possibility of the Corvette still being restorable. She had not paid close enough attention to each and every explosion that had taken place in the garage, but it hadn´t been too plausible a thing to hope for after the comment he had dropped on it. Therefore, this made the surprise all the nicer.
"Really?" she beamed. "that´s awesome!" Whoever minded slight changes like different leather. "As long as noone gets bizarre ideas about spraying it pink I´ll totally not complain, definitely." Shade wasn´t usually one to be too fixed on material things, but she had developed a liking for that Corvette.

"Yep," Gambit nodded. "I'll try t' avoid explodin' it in the future," he made a face. "Ya didn' buy youself a new car in de meantime?"
