"Come on," Emily tilted her head slightly in a skeptical way. "You're the only one who can stand my company, Pietro."

::That was news to Pietro. He knew that Emily was shy, but could she honestly think he was the only person who enjoyed her company? No, not enjoyed. "Stand," or "tolerate.":: "I more than stand you, and other people like you also."

Emily was going to object but realized they would be going in circles; it was coming back to the beginning of their conversation. "Time will show, I guess," she said in an indefinite way, not wishing to get to the bottom of that.

::Pietro might otherwise back down on this issue, but he worried for her, and didn't want her to go through life with the same doubts that he had in his adolescence. As such, he made one more comment before letting the conversation drop.:: "Trust me in this."

Emily nodded; of course she would trust him. Even if she didn't wholeheartedly believe in the last statement, it still found its place in her mind and would probably pop up in her thoughts some time later, much like a fridge magnet with an inspiring inscription that makes you think of when you are looking for something to drink and are completely unprepared for a sudden insight on a subject that is otherwise important to you.
"I hope I'm not keeping you from anything?" she asked just in case, as Pietro probably hadn't been planning on sitting down here for a chat before they had run into each other.

::Pietro replied with a slight shake of his head. He had come today to have a few drinks and to get out of the mansion, and apart from his usual security sweeps, he had nothing to do for the entire day.:: "You're not keeping me."

"That's good," Emily said. She thought that, probably, having a power of speed, Pietro had tons of free time on his hands. "What do you usually do when you get bored?" she asked. "Read five books per hour?"

::It was a peculiar topic change, but Pietro assumed she didn't want to keep discussing herself. He went with it.:: "Sometimes. I work out."

"And what do you do when something keeps bothering you, stuck in your thoughts?" Emily asked again.

::Pietro thought back to a month ago, when he had been given that distressing diagnosis from Samson. One after another, two of which accused him of obsessive-compulsive behavior. He had responded by letting it consume him for the better part of a month, hardly a rebuttal and not anything he wanted Emily to emulate. In his defense, he did have another system, which he chose to tell Emily instead.:: "I try to work it out, often with my sister."

"Oh," Emily nodded. It seemed now even that she had asked a redundant question. "You're very lucky in this respect, you know. Me and my brother, we're not soulmates in any way."

::Pietro knew he was fortunate for his close relationship with Wanda; many siblings were denied what came so naturally to them. She was his better half, and he told her that in no plain terms.:: "I am lucky for her. But there are others to talk to."

"That is true," Emily agreed. She didn't add anything else; she didn't know what else to say. It made her wonder whether she should have already left or probably gone to look for someone who was in charge of hiring staff at the Club.

::Emily didn't elaborate further, and Pietro didn't wish to pry, but he also did not want her to feel so isolated after disappearing for months.:: "Is something stuck in your thoughts?"

"Not really," Emily said. "At least not right now. It was just a random question." She knew she could just sit here for an entire day and look at Pietro, but when it came to maintaining a decent conversation, she failed, as usually.
