GAMBIT
Gambit hadn't been to Webster Hall in ages; the last time was several months before he had bought Hellfire Club. He didn't want to spend evening with Shade at the Hellfire, the place had an air of business about it for him, and he didn't need that, nor did he need anybody of his staff seeing him in a personal context.
They got to the club an hour before midnight, after seemingly endless shopping where they had fun arguing playfully over each item that Gambit saw as not revealing enough and Shade saw as not covering enough, and then after going back to Gambit's apartment to change and make out again. He was still a little bit excited after sex, and the moment he stepped into the booming and flashing atmosphere of the club, he knew he would get even more hyper as the evening would progress.
SHADE
It has become somewhat later than they had intended to which didn´t really surprise Shade. Despite their shaky start this had developed into a great day. As the sun was long down now she had shivered slightly from the night breeze when they had made their way towards the Club. In the end she had decided for a skirt that reached till around her knees and a neckholder top that went well with her sandals.
It had been so long since she had been to a place like this. It had been back at home and nothing of that size. She felt an excited grin spread across her face when they made their way through the crowds.
GAMBIT
"So what do you wanna do first?" Remy asked, leaning to Shade's ear so that she could hear him over the music. His arm was around her waist.
SHADE
The lights and beats were putting her into a cheeful mood but made if a little difficult to orientate around the place at first. "Let´s get a look around first, then hit the dance floor." she suggested. She wasn´t feeling thirsty yet.
GAMBIT
"Awright," Remy said. He took her by the hand, and they went past the dancefloor in the direction of the staircase to the second floor.
SHADE
The club was relatively crowded, the dancefloor packed with mostly young people dancing and hopping along the beat. Following Gambit, Shade had a look around, taking in her sorroundings
GAMBIT
The staircase was just as crowded as the dancefloor; holding Shade's hand, Remy made his way up between people. The rhythm of music was already affecting him, winding him up a bit.
SHADE
They made it up the stairs to the second floor which gave Shade a good view over the hopping mass of dancers below. She felt she was itching to mingle with the crowds already which made her react to the rhythm of the music unconsciously while they walked along.
GAMBIT
Gambit leaned on the banister, studying the hall. Two resident dancers in skimpy outfits lit by black light were hanging from the ceiling, twisting their bodies in large plastic loops. Must be an interesting view for those dancing under them.
He glanced back at Shade. "Dance first, drink next?" he asked.
SHADE
Shade had been watching the crowds below. The beats and lights were starting to give her a slight adrenaline rush. She returned Gambit´s glance and nodded then took him by the hand again and curled her way across the second floor and downstairs on the other side to mingle with the crowds on the dance floor.
GAMBIT
His body was already moving on its own accord, obedient to music, as they went down to the dancefloor. They entered the heaving crowd, becoming a part of it, and Gambit felt everything that mattered behind these walls leave his head at once. He had no idea how much he had needed it.
SHADE
It had been far too long since Shade had last been out to a club or another place for a dance. Mingling with the crowd she let her body take over, giving in to a poor, careless joy of moving along with the beats, the heated atmosphere of the people around them only adding to her adrenaline rush.
GAMBIT
Gambit was watching Shade at first, not too distracted by his own moves, but soon got too carried away by the dance. The beat was mixed into an uninterrupted flow of music, and he regained awareness of the place around him only much later.
Taking Shade around the waist, he drew her to him, pressing her back to him. "Havin' fun, chere?" he asked, leaning to her ear.
SHADE
Shade continued in her dancing, still caught in the rhythm although there was hardly any melody to be made out. She craned her head a little to beam at him. "You bet." she gave back close to his ear so he could understand what she was saying at all.
GAMBIT
Remy used the opportunity to steal a quick kiss from her lips. "When ya feel like takin' a break, jus' tell me," he said.
SHADE
Shade nodded and turned in his grasp so she was directly looking at him now. She didn´t feel tired at all, adrenalised by their surroundings, but when the beat changed into another rhythm after another what she thought might have been 10 minutes or 15, she noticed her mouth was dry. "Let´s get some drinks." she suggested grabbing Gambit´s hand.
GAMBIT
Gambit nodded, and they got through the crowd off of the dancefloor.
"What are you havin'?" he asked when they reached the bar.
SHADE
Shade let her eyes scan the lists that displayed the drinks. Thinking back about what she had eaten that day she decided it was rather safe for her tolerance to have something alcoholic first. She could still get back to coke after a cocktail.
Thinking for a moment, she made her choice. "A tequila sunrise." she said.
GAMBIT
Remy got a Tequila Sunrise for her and a Vodka-Martini for himself. "Let's go someplace quieter," he said, handing her the coctail and walking away from the bar.
SHADE
Shade took the drink from him and followed him through the throngs of people. The place was starting to get really crowded now, but they found some tables on the second floor where the beats and basses were a little dulled and where it was possible to talk at a halfway normal volume.
She sat down and took a sip of her cocktail. "Geez, must´ve been ages since I´ve been out dancing." she chuckled.
GAMBIT
"Me too... Shoulda told me, we'd of caught up on dat a long time ago," Remy responded with a smile, leaning back in his chair.
SHADE
Shade stretched her legs, slipping from her sandals a little and wriggled her toes. "Never really thought about it." she admitted. "Damn, this place is huge."
GAMBIT
"It is," Remy agreed, his eyes fixed on Shade's legs. He took a sip of his drink. "Ya know, I really think you should wear skirts more often."
SHADE
Shade had followed his gaze and took another, smaller sip of her drink. "Yeah. Now that I have one." she joked.
GAMBIT
"What, it's de only skirt ya got?!" Remy exclaimed, almost laughing. "What de world comin' to..."
SHADE
Shade had to chuckle at that. "Well, I was thinking practical when I left home and left the two I had." She remembered her days as a kid when she had always preferred trousers to skirts. Part of that still lingered obviously although she really liked this one.
GAMBIT
"Seriously," Remy grinned, remembering what she had told him about her childhood, "still a tomboy?"
SHADE
"Never really got the tomboy out of me I guess." she said, grinning. "Although I guess I´ll buy another one ... or two... cause it´s pretty."
GAMBIT
"One or two dozen," Remy corrected, "an' ya got no excuse if ya don't."
SHADE
Shade took a small sip of her drink. "What about ´trousers are more comfortable´ or ´you can run faster with trousers´? That doesn´t count as an excuse?" she asked feigning disbelief.
GAMBIT
"And where is it you gonna run, 'xcept for my bedroom?" Remy inquired before sipping his drink.
SHADE
She quirked an eyebrow and that, stiffling a grin. "Angry mobs" she said, feigning seriousness. "Imagine I use my powers in a place where people are ... you know... reaaally supersticious. And then they start running after me with torches and hayforks... better to wear trousers then."
GAMBIT
"Why would ya need t' run at all, when you're usin' your powers?" Remy asked. He could imagine several reasons, but was trying not to be serious about it and just kept teasing her.
SHADE
Shade shrugged, leaning back on her chair crossing her one leg over the other. "Maybe if I couldn´t use my powers all of a sudden or to make it look more dramatic?"
GAMBIT
"Ya know a girl in a skirt always gets away easier, chere," Remy winked.
SHADE
Shade laughed. "Oh really? Got to try that then." she grinned. "I promise, I´ll wear skirts more often, but won´t that mean you´ll get the hots for me?" she added feigning concern.
GAMBIT
"I'll get de hots for ya even if ya wear a clown suit, chere," Remy assured her. "But I always appreciate a skirt dat goes wit' a pair of nice legs."
SHADE
Shade smiled, amused. "Good." she said. "More skirts then, promised. Although I now have to try a clown costume somewhen, too. Just out of curiosity."
GAMBIT
Remy laughed. "I'd pay to see ya in it. Jus' out of curiosity," he drank from his glass.
SHADE
Shade snickered. "I´d pay more to see you in one." she assured. "but then again that´d leave less money for skirts."
GAMBIT
"I'm afraid you ain't got enough money t' see me in a clown suit," Remy replied. "But den again, I dunno, I guess nobody does."
SHADE
"Aww, damn." Shade said jokingly, taking another sip of her cocktail. She knew she had to keep this slow and probably drink a coke next thing she got a drink, otherwise her head would be spinning pretty soon.
GAMBIT
"Don' be sad, cheri," Remy said in a tone far from sympathetic, "ya get to see Gambit without any costumes, an' dat's much better."
He finished his drink, setting the glass on a table nearby. "Let's go?"
SHADE
"Yay." Shade cheered at his first remark, then nodded. She drank a little more, then placed the not yet empty glass aside. Her head was feeling a little light and she knew it would do no good to finish the drink at once now. Funnily enough one of her mother´s typical advice skipped its way into her mind: ´Never leave an open drink at a disco and drink from it later. You never know if someone put something into it.´ She shrugged inwardly, deciding she´d get a Coke later anyways and got up.
GAMBIT
Remy got up as well, sweeping her together with him by her waist. He thought that it had been a good idea to suggest that halter top to her back at the shop because the view of her open back was driving him positively and pleasantly crazy. A well-dressed beautiful woman was nothing short of a work of art.
SHADE
When they moved closer to the music again, Shade felt the music take control over her moves again. Tossing him a glance, she caught him looking at her and flashed him a grin, stealing a short kiss from his lips.
GAMBIT
Gambit didn't let her get away with it. Pulling her tightly to him, he gave her a long, deep kiss, moving his tongue slowly across her mouth, and then let her go, but not before he ran his hand down her bare back. He thought he himself probably derived more pleasure from that simple movement than he actually gave her.
SHADE
With an inward chuckle Shade decided the outfit had been a good choice. Instinctively she had wanted to lean in to him, making him kiss her again, but instead she just gave him another look that clearly told him how much she was enjoying this place, kissed him on the corner of his mouth and then pulled him after her by the hand, towards the music, feeling slightly affected by the alcohol.
GAMBIT
The coctail definitely made him freer in his movements; the crowd had, too, warmed up by that time already, and its rave was affecting Gambit through his empathy, making him get caught on that mood. He noticed some girls checking him out; he replied with a smile, but returned his attention to Shade. It seemed that she, too, was more and more under the influence of music.
SHADE
Following his gaze she saw some girls looking into their direction but didn´t really give them any attention. Just what she and her friends would have done being at a place like this she thought with an inward shrug and instead let herself carry away by the rhythm feeling an almost childlike cheerfulness which most likely not only resulted from the music.
