It was still afternoon when Shade entered the Hellfire. Her flight had landed around noon and she had taken a town car the Professor had sent back to the Institute. After getting her things sorted she had showered, changed her clothes and taken a bus down into the city, not because she would have had run out of money for a taxi, but simply because she was still so used to busses and trains.
The club was not too crowded at this time of the day. Shade´s last couple of days had been happy ones. She had mentioned awkwardness before but as she had thought, this had only lasted for a few short moments. Her parents had been so glad to see her again that they had been sad to let her go. She had promised to make more frequent visits in the future.
However, now that she stepped into the Hellfire, Shade noticed once more that she had missed Gambit. Walking over to the bar. she sat down on one of the bar stools, crossing one leg over the other. As it was a rather warm day, she was wearing a skirt - one she had bought back home. Looking around, she tried to find out whether Gambit was there.

"Hello," a bartender walked over to her, "would you like something to drink?"
Posted by Shade on Jun 24, 2007, 19:59
Hearing a voice, Shade turned her head a little. It wasn´t Gambit, but one of the other bartenders she had seen around the club occasionally. She hadn´t really come here for a drink, but it would look stupid to just sit around and wait, Shade decided.
"Er... I´ll take a Coke. Thanks." she told the man.
Posted by nonplayercharacter on Jun 24, 2007, 20:08
He made her a glass of coke with ice and left her to her thoughts.
Posted by Shade on Jun 24, 2007, 20:10
Shade gave the bartender a little smile and took a sip of her Coke, more to kill time and have something to do than from actually being thirsty. Propping her chin on an elbow, she started to rewind the last few days and was soon lost in thought.

Before leaving for Xavier's, Gambit decided to spend a few hours at the Club, give some directions, see to things before he'd go absent for a few days.
He parked the bike in front of the Club and went inside, holding his helmet under his arm. Throwing a glance over the Club, he noticed who he thought was Shade sitting at the bar; it was difficult to tell from the back. He walked over to her and, leaning sideways so he nearly touched the bar with his head, looked at her.
"Thought it was you," he said, placing the helmet on the counter.
Posted by Shade on Jun 24, 2007, 20:16
This time the voice was indeed Gambit´s and Shade couldn´t help but smile, then turned to look at him. "Yep." she said. "Just arrived a few moments ago. Nice to see you." She leant forward to give him a brief kiss.
Posted by Gambit on Jun 24, 2007, 20:34
"Definitely," Gambit agreed, kissing her. He nodded to the other bartender as a greeting and sat down next to Shade. "Nice skirt," he grinned.
Posted by Shade on Jun 24, 2007, 20:36
Shade raised her eyebrows at him, but mirrored Gambit´s grin. "Knew you´d say that." she said. "Well, I´ve got three of those now." she added, showing the number with her fingers. "went shopping with my Mum."
Posted by Gambit on Jun 24, 2007, 20:39
"I see," Remy nodded, "so how'd it go?"
Posted by Shade on Jun 24, 2007, 20:42
Shade took a sip of her Coke before she answered. "It was really nice." she said and meant it. "I thought it would be strange at first but it wasn´t really. I guess they were sad to let me go again." She let a finger run along the rim of her glass. "My Mum officially called you an angel for getting sense into me and telling me it was about time I returned." Shade looked up and gave him a little smile.
Posted by Gambit on Jun 24, 2007, 20:50
Remy grinned. "Now, Shade, what image of Gambit did ya fabricate t' get her callin' me dis? I didn't get any sense into ya, just siggested a different perspective."
Posted by Shade on Jun 24, 2007, 20:54
Shade shrugged, mirroring his grin. "Just told her that." she said. "that I had a boyfriend who thought it was about time I paid my people a visit, nothing more." She got a little more serious. "I guess your ´change of a perspective´ means somewhat more to them."
Posted by Gambit on Jun 24, 2007, 21:11
"Okay," Remy smiled, accepting her explanation. "So how have dey been?"
Posted by Shade on Jun 24, 2007, 21:30
Shade had a look at her glass. "They´re coping." she said, describing things as neutral as possible. Her mother had looked as if she had aged five years over the last few months and the garden back at home had never been in a messier state - which was totally untypical of her dad. "The last months have been rather tough for them, but they´re getting along better now."
Posted by Gambit on Jun 24, 2007, 21:44
"Now dat they know Shade hasn't forgotten about 'em?" Remy concluded for her.
Posted by Shade on Jun 24, 2007, 22:00
"Yeah." Shade agreed. "now that they know Shade is safe. I think that was what they were worried about most." She drank from her Coke again.
Posted by Gambit on Jun 24, 2007, 22:01
"Is she?" Gambit asked.
Posted by Shade on Jun 24, 2007, 22:33
"Safe as in ´alive´" Shade clarified, knowing Gambit was most likely playing at his usual ´dating Gambit is dangerous´ argument. "I called them back in March but before that they had no idea what had happened to me. Nor did they afterwards. Wasn´t quite fair of me." She stared at some point above Gambit´s shoulder for a moment, then returned to reality. "But that´s settled now and everything´s fine." she smiled.
Posted by Gambit on Jun 24, 2007, 22:58
"Dat's good to know," Remy smiled.
Posted by Shade on Jun 24, 2007, 23:00
"Yeah, it is." Shade agreed, smiling as well, then placed her Coke aside. "It was nice to be back home." she said. "although I missed you of course." She leant in to kiss him on the lips, knowing that what she said was true. Sure, there had been a lot of impressions these last few days, seeing her parents again and all that, being back at the place she had called her home for so long. Still, she had missed him and found no problem in admitting so freely.
Posted by Gambit on Jun 24, 2007, 23:18
Remy felt a faint sting of guilt inside. Shade had been missing him, and he had been catching up on past events with his ex. Not that he had planned it to happen during Shade's absence, of course...
He kissed her back, letting the kiss last longer than the last one. Pulling away, he looked at her and smiled, brushing his fingers through her hair at her neck. "I'm movin' to de Institute today," he said. "For a week, maybe longer."
Posted by Shade on Jun 24, 2007, 23:21
Shade looked at him, listening, enjoying the simple gesture of his hand in her hair. Yes, she had missed him. Gambit´s words came as a surprise. "Oh." she said, wondering what the reason might be. Then she remembered the attacks. "You´ve got some job to do there?" she asked.
Posted by Gambit on Jun 24, 2007, 23:28
"Oui," Remy said, "so I gotta stay here for now and wrap up some work stuff here b'fore I leave. What are your plans for today?"
(( I'll be off in a mo ))
Posted by Shade on Jun 24, 2007, 23:30
Shade shrugged a little. "No real plans." she admitted. "I got my things sorted at the Institute and thought I´d drive down here to see you and see whether you´re free for some hours of whatever you feel like."
Posted by Gambit on Jun 24, 2007, 23:40
"What's de cellphone for?" Gambit grinned. "What if I happened t' be outta town?"
Posted by Shade on Jun 24, 2007, 23:42
Shade shrugged. "True." she said. "but I guess I simply didn´t think about it." And that was true. Her first thought of where to go after her return had be the Hellfire to see if Gambit was there. Maybe she had also forgotten about her cellphone because after all these months she still wasn´t too used to having it with her all the time.
"So what do you think? Do you have some free time or is Gambit´s plan terribly busy today?"
Posted by Gambit on Jun 25, 2007, 9:21
"Technically, I'm terribly busy right now, for a couple of hours, an' den I'm all yours..." Gambit thought aloud. "But we can turn it de other way around."
Posted by Shade on Jun 25, 2007, 9:49
Shade´s smile broadened. "That sounds good to me" she said. So he was busy. Well, she thought, she could always have suggested meeting again in a few hours as well, but she liked the idea that he agreed to changing his plans.
Shade thought for a moment. She had had an idea earlier when she had still been at home and had been reminded of something she hadn´t done in an awefully long time. This was why she had spontaneously shoved a pair of trousers into her bag when she had headed for the Hellfire, just in case.
"What do you think about roller blading?" she asked.
Posted by Gambit on Jun 25, 2007, 14:41
Gambit beamed. "What, now?"
Posted by Shade on Jun 25, 2007, 14:50
Shade shrugged with a grin. "I just thought about how much I used to like it and... well, I don´t have my blades here but I´m sure we could get some at a blading place."
Posted by Gambit on Jun 25, 2007, 15:00
"Yep," Gambit nodded. He looked around the club, arranging his thoughts. "Wait outside, I'll get de second helmet," he said, getting up.
Posted by Shade on Jun 25, 2007, 15:03
"All right." Shade flashed him a happy grin, finished her Coke and hopped off the bar stool. Doing some fun workout was just what she needed right now. She was feeling a little tired as there had not been too much sleep at the weekend because of all the catching up with her family, but she was itching for some action. "I´ll wait outside then." She leaned in to steal a kiss off his lips.
Posted by Gambit on Jun 25, 2007, 15:15
Gambit smiled and went away to get the helmet.
When he returned and saw Shade outside waiting for him, he walked over to her and pulled her to himself, giving her a long kiss.
Posted by Shade on Jun 25, 2007, 15:18
Shade responded to the kiss instantly. Yes, being at home had been good and yes, the days had passed rather quickly, but still it was good to be back.
She kept up the kiss as long as she could, then broke away for air. "Damn, I missed that." she said with a light chuckle.
Posted by Gambit on Jun 25, 2007, 15:20
"Me, too," Gambit smiled, biting his lower lip for a second. "Your armor, mademoiselle..." he gave her the helmet.
Posted by Shade on Jun 25, 2007, 15:30
Shade hesitated for a very brief moment, hearing what he said first her heart missing a very tiny beat. But then she made a graceful movement with her hand and took the helmet from him. "Thanks, monsieur." she said and put it on. "Madmoiselle is ready for battle."
